CrewPack, made by Descend Via Productions LLC, has no accounts. We never collect your name, email or phone number, and CrewPack never uses your crew-portal login.
On your phone
- Your calendar and any trip files you import stay on your phone, except the anonymous layover counts described below. Our servers never fetch your calendar.
- Weather comes from Apple Weather.
- Pre-trip reminder: an optional "Remind me to pack" notification is scheduled locally on your phone, with no server push. By default it fires 12 hours before report, and you can set it anywhere from 1 to 48 hours. Trips you add by hand get it at 7 AM local time.
- Rough-day check for pilots: your phone sends airport codes straight to aviationweather.gov and fetches the public FAA status and daily operations plan. Nothing goes to our server, nothing is stored, and no hotel name or address is sent.
- Subscriptions are checked on your phone. Your preferences and post block list stay on your phone.
- We use no crash, analytics or diagnostics tools.
What we receive
- Picks: loading picks sends the airport code and layover dates. They aren't stored; we keep only a rate-limit key for 24 hours.
- Hotel notes: your phone sends only a one-way code made from the airport and hotel name. The hotel name and address never leave your phone.
- Airline logos load from our server, which receives the airline code.
- IDs: CrewPack uses random and device-check-based IDs, not your identity: an Apple App Attest install key (deleted after 180 days unused), a random poster ID stored as a hash on your posts, votes, reports and reward records (kept as long as those exist), an install hash, a fresh token for each city and week, and a separate chat device ID with its own App Attest key.
- Install record: the airline you picked (or other) and your role (pilot, flight attendant or blank), used for upvotes by role and public totals. Groups under 3 are never shown. Deleted after 180 days without use.
- Layover counts: once a week, each upcoming layover city is sent as a separate anonymous count. We keep only city-and-week totals, for 12 months, and never show a total under 10.
- Free-month rewards: our server verifies Apple's signed transaction and stores the Apple transaction ID and claim time. Reward records, including the transaction ID and claim time, are deleted 60 days after the reward is redeemed. After that we keep only an anonymous marker with no ID, so a pick or hotel detail can't earn a reward twice. Unclaimed rewards don't store a transaction ID. Payment details never reach us.
- Contact support sends what you type, the app, iOS and device versions, the airline and role you picked, whether calendar access is on, and a screenshot if you add one, through our server to our support inbox. Kept for 12 months.
Our hosting provider may process IP addresses to deliver and secure the service. We don't log or store IP addresses or keep request logs.
Posts: picks, tips, events, hotel notes, van instructions and photos
- Posts are public and tied to your random IDs, not to you. Your role is stored with your votes and photos.
- Posts and chat reports get AI-assisted review through a third-party AI service, and the app says so under each post button and on the chat report screen. Posts go live right away, then their text is checked by word filters and AI-assisted review. Photos are reviewed only if reported or their caption is flagged, and include the poster's role. Reported chat includes a shortened chat ID for the reported person, used only to act on bans. We never send your name, calendar or location. Clear violations are removed automatically, unclear ones go to a person on our team, and only a person can ban.
- Photos post right away after Apple's on-phone nudity check and our server's rules. A reported photo is reviewed, and 3 reports hide it until then.
- Moderators may lightly edit hotel notes and van instructions. Only you see the "Edited by moderation" label, and your original is kept privately until the note is deleted.
- You can report any post and block any poster.
Crew chat
- The first time you start or join a chat, a "Before you chat" notice explains that reported messages are sent to our server as plain text. You can tap Accept or Not now; your choice is saved only on your phone.
- Join a room with its code. Your nickname and messages are encrypted on your phone, and our server can't read them, except when someone reports a message (see Reports below). Creating a room sends its city in readable form.
- You can be in up to 6 chat rooms at a time. The person who starts a room chooses This layover or Whole trip, which sets when it ends, up to about 4 days ahead. Rooms and messages are then permanently deleted.
- While a room is open, our server holds its members' chat device hashes and Apple push tokens. Both are wiped when the room ends, and after that we keep no record of who was in it. We keep no message logs or IP addresses.
- Chat alerts are sent through Apple push and show only the city and an unread count, never message text. CrewPack sends no other server push.
- Reports: the reporter's phone sends the reported person's last 10 messages (nickname, text and time), the reason, the city, and the chat-only IDs of both the reporter and the reported person. These are readable, not encrypted. The report is reviewed by our third-party AI moderation service and our team, who see only a shortened chat ID for the reported person. Chat-only IDs are separate from your main app ID. Reports are kept 30 days after review, or 90 days if never reviewed.
- Your chat block list is deleted 12 months after its last change.
Sharing
We may share anonymous totals, such as how many crew lay over in a city each week or upvote a place, with restaurants, event organizers and other partners to find crew deals. We never share a total under 10 crew or anything personal. We never sell data, show ads or track you across apps or websites.
How long we keep it
- Posts stay until deleted, and votes last as long as the item. Deleted, removed or expired items are purged after 30 days; replaced van instructions too.
- Photos removed by a moderator are deleted at once. Other photos go within 30 days after their place is removed or the event ends.
- A ban removes the poster's places, tips, notes and van instructions, purged after 30 days and not restored if the ban ends. Their photos are hidden during the ban and return when it ends, unless the place was purged. Ban records are kept 12 months.
- Post reports: until resolved, plus 90 days. Chat reports: 30 days after review, or 90 days if never reviewed.
- Reward records: 60 days after redemption; then only an anonymous marker with no ID.
- Chat block lists: 12 months after their last change.
- Support messages: 12 months.
Your choices
Calendar access, notifications, posting and chat are optional. Posts, notes, van instructions, votes and photos are anonymous and stay after you delete the app. To remove one, report it in the app or email support@descendviaproductions.com. Reward records are deleted on their own 60 days after redemption. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone.
