This policy explains what the CrewCommuter app, made by Descend Via Productions LLC, uses and where it goes. CrewCommuter has no accounts or logins.
Stays on your phone
- Calendar: read on your phone to find your trips. Your calendar is not uploaded.
- Location: used on your phone (for example, to remember where you parked and to disarm a trip). Your GPS location and parked-car location never reach our server. To work out driving time, your phone asks Apple Maps, which receives your parked-car location and lot name.
- Weather and airport status: weather and FAA airport-status lookups (aviationweather.gov, FAA) and Apple Maps are called directly from your phone, so those services see your device's IP address the way any website would, but they receive no account or identity data from us.
- Photos: only screenshots you pick for trip import are read, on your phone. They are not uploaded, unless you attach one to a bug report yourself.
- Your home and base airports, role and purchase status are saved on your phone.
Sent to our server
- Push notification token, so we can send you flight alerts. It identifies your device, not you.
- A hashed install ID, used to count community savings and usage statistics anonymously.
- Your airline, when the app registers.
- Flight routes and times for flights you watch (flight information only, not your calendar).
- Bug reports you choose to send: your first name, push token, airport codes (never GPS coordinates), role, plan, your message, and an optional screenshot and diagnostic snapshot. A screenshot you choose to attach may show a map. Bug reports you choose to send (everything except the screenshot) are forwarded to our internal support tools. That includes your first name, push token, airports, role, plan and report text.
- Aggregate counts of usage by app version.
What we do not do
No accounts, no third-party analytics or crash reporting services, no advertising and no tracking across apps or websites. We do not sell your data. If you opt in to Apple's own crash reports, Apple shares those with us.
Service providers
- Cloudflare hosts our entire server.
- Apple Push Notification service receives device tokens to deliver alerts.
- Our flight data providers, FlightAware and OAG, receive only flight numbers, airport codes and dates, never personal information.
- Apple Maps calculates driving time on your phone and receives your parked-car location and lot name.
How long we keep it
- Raw push tokens: deleted 2 to 7 days after the flight.
- Watched flights: kept up to 7 days.
- Install IDs and push tokens used for statistics are stored only as one-way hashes. These hashes currently have no set deletion date.
- Daily tallies: dropped after 32 days.
- Aggregate usage counters: kept, but they contain no personal data.
- Flight data caches: not tied to any user, kept up to 60 days.
- Bug reports: not stored long term. If storage is turned on, they are kept up to 30 days.
Your choices
Notifications are optional, and so are location and photo access; the app works without them. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your phone. To have records about your device removed from our server, email support@descendviaproductions.com and we will remove them by hand. There is no automatic deletion tool.
